Like Water for Chocolate

Love is a powerful feeling within the heart that holds it. People can show and express their love in many different ways. Love can take over the mind and control your every thought for a short instance. In the movie, Like Water for Chocolate, Tita, a young Mexican woman, expresses her love through the vibrant and sensual recipes she prepares. Tita shows her emotions through her unique and colorful style of preparing the recipes. All of the emotions she puts into her cooking are feelings of love. The emotions are not the love of family or friends, but the emotions that go beyond that. They are the love for a special man that has merely touched her life. She prepares the emotions into a batter that everyone can enjoy so she can experience what she feels. She also does this because it is the only way she can express her emotions for the man of her dreams. There are three special occasions she prepares the food for, and she shows every emotion going through her body in each one. Love inspires people to do what their heart desires, and in Tita's case, it was to share her emotions through her cooking.

While baking a cake for the wedding of her sister, Rosaura, and the man of her dreams, Pedro, her depressed feelings cause her to cry all over the batter of the cake. The tears that fell into the batter are a part of whom she is. They are the emotions that sore through her body in search of passion. They set her free from herself and help deal with her the emotions within her body. When the people eat pieces of the wedding cake, they get sick with depression and weep uncontrollably for the love of their life. When Tita baked this cake, these were the feelings that were going through her body. Confusion is what was on her mind while preparing the batter and confusion is what sparked her uncontrollable emotions.
